🚀 This Week's Growth Hack:
📦 How To Create Your Own Prime Day
Let’s be real, Prime Day is not the best day for deals. You know it. I know it.
And yet… we all bought stuff last week. Why?
Because Prime Day isn’t about price, it’s about urgency. Amazon has trained us that “this thing you might eventually buy? You need to buy it right now… or else.”
And that’s what this week’s growth hack is all about: how to manufacture that same sense of “gotta act now” urgency for your own business, even if you’re not a trillion-dollar tech giant with drones and server farms.
Think of it like this:
🕐 Most sales = “Hey look, we’re cheaper now”
🧨 Prime Day = “You’ll regret it forever if you don’t buy this RIGHT NOW”
So! Let’s build your own Prime Day using this 3-part framework:
1. Give it a sexy name
Not “Summer Sale” or “Q3 Promo” — that’s boring. Call it something that makes it feel official.
“Customer Appreciation Day”
“The [Your Brand] Vault Opens”
“48 Hours of Insanity”
This isn’t a sale. It’s an event.
2. Set a fixed, short time window
Two days max. And don’t extend it. The key isn’t a longer sale, it’s the fear of missing out. If you extend it, people will wait next time. If you end it hard, they’ll set reminders next time. Don’t create a precedent of extending it… Stick to your guns!
3. Over-promote like crazy
This is the most important part, after what you name it! I learned this early in my marketing career when I was helping companies launch their KickStarters campaigns. The success of a Kickstarter campaign solely comes down to the promotion that happens before the first day you can possibly invest in the project.
Because if you don't get a bunch of people to invest on day one & hit the goal you set on the platform, then you will never get on the home page and therefore hardly get any money from the platform, falling into the deep black abyss of Kickstarter. Promotion is everything and Amazon NAILS that down better than anyone.
Think about it… Prime Day isn’t just on Amazon. It’s on Twitter, email, YouTube, your mom’s group chat. It’s even promoted on the packing tape when you order anything from Amazon up to a month before hand… You need to drum up hype the same way.
3-5 emails in 2 days
Countdown timers everywhere
Texts your SMS list
Add a banner on your homepage
Run Facebook retargeting ads to a lander where you’ll notify them of access before everyone else gets access
Heck, update your LinkedIn job title section under your name on your profile
The more places they see it, the more real it feels.
✍🏼 Now, My Signature Examples
SaaS
You’ve been meaning to raise your prices. So you email your list:
“We’re launching ‘Founders Forever Day’ … 48 hours to lock in lifetime access to [Your SaaS] at today’s pricing. After that, pricing doubles for all new customers.”
Add a timer. Tweet about it. Feature customer quotes. Done.
E-Commerce
You’ve got a warehouse full of slightly imperfect inventory. Perfect.
“Introducing: The Misfit Drop, 48 hours only. Same quality. Slightly off-center labels. Ridiculously low prices. First come, first served.”
Throw in mystery bundles. Let IG followers vote on what drops next. Turn leftovers into hype.
Agency
You just hired a killer strategist or launched a new offer. Time to spin it.
“We’re hosting ‘Audit Week’ – 2 days only. Book a free strategy call with our newest growth strategist (ex-XYZ Unicorn) and get a full growth audit, free.”
💡 Pro Tip: Add a big red countdown. Only 10 slots. It’s like Coachella pre-sale tickets.
Remember: people aren’t so compelled to buy because something’s cheap. They are SUPER compelled to buy because they’re scared to miss out.
So this week’s challenge is simple:
✅ Name your promo.
✅ Make it short.
✅ Promote it everywhere before hand.
🤑 Make $$$.
Now tell me, what’s your Prime Day going to be called?
