This Feels Unfair
Most people think growing a business looks like posting on social, sitting around waiting for people to find them, begging journalists to feature them... Or they go the other route… turn on ads, pour a bucket of money in, and hope something sticks. Sure, both of those can work. But they’re not really the game.
At the end of the day, every business grows the same way: attention. If you don't have people's attention, you don't have traffic, no traffic means no booked calls or sales , and no sales means no revenue, no revenue means no business.
It really is that simple.
And when you zoom out, there are really only three ways to get that attention:
Word of mouth (people talking about you)
Organic (social media, content, press)
Paid (ads, sponsorships, paid media).
The problem is, most people obsess over the second and third buckets. They’re constantly tweaking posts, testing creatives, launching new campaigns… while completely ignoring the most powerful one sitting right at the top: word of mouth.
Whiiiiiiiiich is kind of crazy when you think about it, because it’s the only channel where you don’t have to pay for the attention, you’re borrowing someone else’s trust, and conversion rates are naturally higher. It’s a guaranteed win!
Think about it, if a friend tells you “you have to try this,” you’re already halfway sold before you even see the product. No ad in the world can compete with that.
🤯 But here’s the part almost nobody realizes: word of mouth isn’t just something you sit around and hope for. You can actually engineer it. You can scale it. And when you do, everything else in your marketing starts to get a whole lot easier. How?
