If you've been reading this newsletter for a while, you know I recently launched a lead gen service that’s absolutely crushing it for the 20+ clients we've onboarded so far…
What some of you might not know is that my team and I still manage ads & emails for companies that want leads, but also e-commerce brands.
Well, I got this response to last week's growth hack about my B2B secrets:

… & the email came on the same day I was putting together a report for one of my fractional CMO clients that read: “I have officially increased your revenue 62% since we started working together six months ago, while actually spending 20% less on ads.”
So for this week’s Growth Hack, here’s exactly how I did it.
Step 1: Only Optimize for Purchases
✅ No more "traffic" campaigns, only "purchase" campaigns
Their previous agency was wasting 50% of their budget on "traffic" campaigns instead of just optimizing for actual purchases.
If you run a traffic campaign, Facebook will only show your ads to people who are most likely to load your website after clicking on your ad, not those most likely to buy.
At their spend level (~$15K/month), they already had enough pixel data to optimize for purchases, so I immediately killed all traffic campaigns.
Step 2: UGC for Prospecting
✅ Raw, customer-driven storytelling beats Canva templates every time
We launched UGC ads where their ideal customer profile (ICP) shared:
The problem they had before buying my client’s product
How they found my client’s product
Why they love it now & will never go back
… all in under 30 seconds
This slashed their cost per purchase from $100 → $65 on cold prospecting campaigns—just from better creative.
Step 3: Ditch the Discounts for RT
✅ Replace discounts with reasons, sell them
30% of their total budget went to retargeting people who had been to the website but hadn’t purchased yet with a discount
I swapped those out for retargeting ads that went deep on product benefits rather than just showing the product again.
This lowered their retargeting cost per purchase from $50 → $30.

Step 4: Introduce Cost Per Result Goals
✅ Slow tell Meta what you want to pay per customer
Once we got the blended cost per purchase down from $110 → $77, I started setting cost per result goals in each ad set.
Every week, I would lower the target by a few dollars (e.g., $75 → $72) if the cost per result was decreasing.
Over six months, this drove their Meta cost per purchase down from $110 → $56.
Step 5: Fix Google Ads & Shift Budget to Meta
✅ Cut waste & double down on what works
The previous agency was wasting thousands on keywords that never converted.
I copied the best-performing keywords into a new campaign and shifted budget away from anything that never led to a purchase.
Immediate results: Google cost per purchase dropped from $250 → $110 overnight.
Long-term results: After ongoing optimizations (better ad copy + refined keywords), we brought it down from $110 → $80.
The Problem? Over time, I realized the Google Ads CPCs wouldn’t get the cost per result below $80 on Google … so I started shrinking the budget on Google Ads and pushed it into Meta, where we were consistently getting purchases for $56.
💡 I approach ad buying like I approach finance, gotta invest in what’s gonna give us the highest returns.
Final Takeaway
This isn't rocket science, it's just Good Marketing:
Good storytelling in ads (UGC + reasons wins)
Good optimizations (stop wasting budget on bad campaigns & keywords)
Good patience (it didn’t happen overnight, it took 6 months)
I audit a few accounts a week & I just can’t believe how many agencies still run traffic campaigns (basically paying Facebook to show your ad to people who only click, not buy) or spend thousands on keywords that have NEVER converted.
